Latex as Art and Subversive Daywear

My journey into the world of latex continues with something less formal and even more fun. Part one: here.

Nurse Noah will see you now. (image: paper magazine)

As the world's 11th most rebellious slave it's my solemn duty to show the world the benefits of latex. It's the kind of behavior mistress expects of me. Also I'm on a quest to pervert the Dark Side from within. Highly successful I may add.

In other news: Today's vanilla perversion is an article in The Guardian. "NHS urged to avoid PPE gloves made in 'slave-like' conditions." We all know the answer to that, so let's focus on latex instead. It's a material you can do so much more with than just make black skin-tight catsuits. I for one love bright, happy colours, and it feels to me that's what latex is made for.

The image used to illustrate this article show Noah Cyrus as a latex nurse. Not only fitting but I also like the contrast. Sarcasm is still alive I guess. As to who Mrs. Cyrus is, no idea. That's not important, it's the outfit that counts.

1.
It's Springtime in the Northern hemisphere and the days are getting longer and warmer. Summer is around the corner, just like water melons, just not the latex kind. Such an awesome creation from Venus Prototype shown here by Doja Cat. For some reason it has that Batman vibe. Don't know why. Found this image and several others in this post on the Twitter account of Latex Kitsch. Excellent curators and true lovers of latex.

This is so awesome.

2.
If the first outfit reminds me of Batman, the one below has a more Disney-like feeling. Kiki Kelani in a dress by Latex Crazy Shop. Orginally found on Latex Kitch Twitter.

Disney would never approve this Mary Poppins outfit. Does that make capitalism good or bad? Wrong question.

3.
Trick question. One week to Brazil for Carnival in Rio (biggest party in the world) or spending a week at the OWK. Assume for a moment it is still there. Never been to the OWK, but even Dutch can answer that. And yes, there is just one correct answer and no, no prizes. Way too easy.

Japanes latex designer Atsuku Kudo has created a dress for Sabrina Sato to wear during the parade of Rio samba schools. Did you know the Cariocas purpose-built parade area just for it, called the Sambódromo? And no this costume won't stand out. Told you it was an easy question. Still very nice. Source Latex Kitch.

Oddly, the Carnaval do Rio de Janeiro is never in the month of January. But who cares with two million visitors each day, right OWK?

4.
We're all entitled to our opinions but when it comes to perfection it's pointless to argue. We all agree, don't we OWK? OWK? In Dutch I can come up with at least 50 words to describe just how gorgeous the image is. Writing in English, so I'm not gonna bother and stick with "perfection."

Justine Skye is modeling a latex body by Nange Magro here, originally found in Spirit And Flesh, but the link is broken. Discovered thanks to the Latex Kitch Curators.

Yep.

It's like they say, something old, something new and something Japanese, if your name is Dutch. Pardon my English but this latex kimono by Dawnamatrix, shown here at the Japanfest in Atlanta is pure joy. Thanks again to the folks at Latex Kitsch for sharing.

Like most men I don't care much for pink. There are exceptions - and no that doesn't necessarily involve latex. Think of it as a nice bonus. I featured the work of Sebastian Cauchos in my previous post on latex couture and here it is again. Simple, elegant and awesome. The high collar is a nice touch.

Sebastian Cauchos adding an extra high collar to this outfit. As if the latex ensemble standing out by itself is not enough.

7.
This time you'll feel it too. Everybody gets that good Gotham vibe, wathcing Saweetie dressed up as the Joker. Wanna bet its too much to handle for Batman? Latex can be crazy fun. More please. Outift by Venus Prototype, found on their Instagram.

Crazy Cool!

8.
Business-like with a twist. Another Sebastian Cauchos latex creation. I am an admirer of his work. Why you never somebody wearing this into the office? Simple, with women wearing something like this into the office, we men would find it impossibile to finish our work. And yes, we men are to blame for that.

Manager in charge.

9.
Everybody loves the colour red. Combining latex stockings with a cashmere overcoat brings out the best in both materials and colour. Especially when worn by Kennedy Givens. From the Venus Prototype Instagram account.

Red is not the only beautiful colour you see here. (No shout-out this time, you know who you are.)

10.
Eugene Shishkin did a photoshoot about Moscow's latex culture for Vice UK. Even though it's in black and white, one image stood out. Cotton and wool on top, latex underneath. But what if it gets cold in the Russian capital. Extra layer of latex perhaps? Who knows.

Traditional meets non-traditional, continued from #9 above.

In the end, everything in life comes full circle sooner or later. Mostly by accident. Together again with Miss Jackson. I selected the image of the How Many Licks Latex Halter Bathing Suit because of it's happy colour, a perfect illustration of why latex can be so much fun. And yes, it also reminded me of carnival in Rio de Janeiro. By now you should have a fairly good idea what the answer to question number three is.

The outfit was used in the 2018 music video "Made for now". [1] It's a combined effort by Janet Jackson and Daddy Yankee. Only then I saw it's Miss Jackson who is smiling in the background.

How Many Licks Latex Halter Bathing Suit. And yes it's a coincidence. No not the name. Together again with Miss Jackson. But you won't believe me, so be it.

Today we learned eleven things. One, latex is always cool, no matter what colour and one, (1+1=11) given the choice between carnival in Rio the Janeiro and a visit to the riel OWK, we're all off to Brazil. In case you're afraid of flying, there's always the video from "Made For Now". Not only a happy song, suitable as a worldcup anthem but just look at those outfits. A big thanks to Miss Jackson, Latex Kitsch and all the latex fairies out there.

PS, too much happy latex in the world to ignore, so no doubt to be continued one day.
