Lady Mercedes of Avalon, Berlin's Second Interview With Lady Sas

Why Avalon had to close

Dreaming of the day her fury meets my fever. It's both frightening and marvelous. {End of personal note.]

Lady Mercedes is smiling. Stop smiling back dude. You know what's next. Oops. I get it.

The other day German femdom blogger Lady Sas polled whether she should continue to post  both in German and English. The answer is no, which makes an aweful lot of sense given Germany's bold, proud history when it comes to femdom. Remember reading that Lady Daria of the Warsaw Prison also studied German. Why am I not surprised? So did Dutch. Bit rusty these days but I'll manage.

Recently Lady Sas interviewed Herrin Mercedes for the second time. Most people know her as one of two founders of studio Avalon back in 2006, together with Lady Marlon, who since retired. Like most people, the news that Avalon was closing down, came as a shock. Of course Covid-19 had something to do with it but there's more. One day I always told myself. Keep on dreaming Dutch. Avalon's lease came up for renewal at the end of 2022. The land lord was planning a major redevelopment that would severly limit the ability for Avalon to operate the way it needed. Lady Mercedes and her partner in crime decided not to compromise. Because of that, one of the world's most respected BDSM facilities turned into an empty shell on the final day of 2022.

Apart from Covid-19 and rental agreements, there's a third factor involved in why Avalon closed. In addition to the 2001 Prostitution Act, in September 2016, the Prostitute Protection Act was passed. It introduced a compulsory registration for prostitutes, a compulsory permit for the prostitution industry and several other ones. Herrin Mercedes knows at least four, next generation, highly skilled pro-dommes, who left because of it.

Luckily, where there is a past, there is always a future. Lady Mercedes would love to open a small, lovely dungeon. One more time. Also, based in Berlin, the highly experienced domme feels she nearly hasn't travelled enough. That's on her bucket list too. And finally she would like to chronicle the history of Avalon. Glad I'm friendly with librarians the world all over. Can't wait to read it.

Dutch is not good at begging but here were I go: Please Lady Mercedes, please? Please, please, please? Come on guys, help me out here.

Elon Musk's Shadow Rule

Elon Musk was this blog's last season's running gag. Or so I thought. A long, worrysome profile in the New Yorker about Mr. Musk, including him as owner of the global satelite communications system Starlink, becoming more and more pro-Russian. Click to read.
