Cruelty to animals is never the answer
What if Cruella de Vil, in her younger years, had focused on femdom instead of puppies?[2]
Undeniably powerful, even if her name isn't Cruella. Good for her. |
Apart from rating female villains in the Disney movies there's little to get excited about when it comes to the Magical Kingdom. Oops. Why Kan that be? Is it in his kiss, sorry Cher, I mean name? Her name of course.
Cruella - as her given name implies - is not a pleasant woman. In case you have any doubts, her family name is De Vil. In 1956 Disney released an animated movie about 101 (not 111) Dalmatians and what to do with them. Turn the lot into a mink coat - yes, that's Cruella's initial idea - or cuddle them and give them milk and cookies. No free punishment for guessing how it ends.
The third live-action adaptation in the 101 Dalmatians franchise - and yes, all animated movies Disney have ever released are already re-live-actioned or one day soon will be - serves as both a prequel and reboot. The movie is set in London during the punk rock movement of the 1970s. [1] Teenage Cruella explores the path that will lead her to become a notorious up and coming fashion designer known as Cruella de Vil. But what if she took the other pill? Matrix reference anyone? Of course it is. What if instead of non-consensual cruelty she opted for the more fun one of consensual pain and suffering? And I'm not talking about white latex instead of black latex here. We'll never know.

[1] 1970's London you say? My answer is Malcolm McLaren, more than manager for the Sex Pistols.
[2] Don't answer that. Somehow Mrs. De Vil is not the kind of woman who wants to make the world a better place. Not even through an abundance of male tears. Such a waste of talent.
