Location, location, location! [4]
Nope, nobody hijacked my URL, if you love what you do, better do it right. So where do you start? Location obviously.
Queen Hibiki (almost wrote mistress). By now you kinda get where this is going. All images in this series are dommes who have visited the OWK. [3] But there's more... Nighty night everyone. (image: Hibikism.com) |
Continued from OWK III - What Went Wrong? (part I)
Yesterday, I wrote one reason the original OWK didn't make it, was the fact the owners didn't run it as a business. [2] It's far from the only reason. Equally important in why the OWK was born with flawed DNA is the location. Černá is situated in the heart of the modern-day Czech republic, meaning cold winters and hot summers. Imagine you buy a house to rent out only to discover that because of the weather you can only collect six months a year. You forgot it is freezing cold during the winter. That's gonna be a drain on your finances.
In her video, goddess Amazon mentions how queen Patricia inherited the castle. If that is true it certainly explains why the OWK was born in such an inhospitable place. On the other hand, every brand needs a good origin story. Sometimes it's true and sometimes its kinda close to almost true. In 2015 Good magazine published an in-dept article about the OWK. It also wondered where the money came from. The reporter went so far as to suggest the possibility of the Russian mafia. We'll never know but its location proved to be a fatal flaw. It doesn't matter what slaves think, most of the time their owners prefer Summer over snow. The rest is history.
One of the OWK's brightest ideas was to import models from the Czech capital to act as guards. Probably born out of necessity given the limited supply of local young, hot models willing to whip men for money. [1] Some may balk at so much impurity, but remember the OWK wouldn't stand a chance without single males, paying heavily for the privilege. Even better, these models reinforced the notion of hot, sexy, dominant women, only a credit card away from the majority of submissive males who excel at serving with their pants down. It also helped selling magazines.
In the end the female guards are also part of the reason why the business collapses. After his hot Italian girlfriend dumps him - she even wears leather pants without him asking! - David Bramwell decides to take a year of and travel to extraordinary communities all over the world. His mate writes for Skin Two magazine, it's how he learns about the OWK.
Being granted access as "a visitor" - at full price - he meets a Japanese guy who runs the kitchen:
"‘Don’t worry about Frank,’ he said, in his melancholic, Eastern European accent, ‘he’s been terribly unhappy since the ladies have left.’
‘Are you saying they’re not coming back?’
‘Yah. The queen fell out with sublime ladies a few weeks ago. They wanted pay rise. She refused. There was enormous cat fight.’ ‘Pffft. Everybody go.’"
Sadly in his quest for Utopia, Bramwell doesn't write much else about the OWK. Clearly, crawling on all fours to please a woman is not the author's thing. The No. 9 Bus to Utopia was published in June 2016. The queen falling out with her female employees over pay most likely occured a few years earlier.
Another fatal wound. The OWK proved an expensive place to run [and visit] in the middle of nowhere, desperately in need of money but refused to stick to time-tested business principles. On top of that queen Patricia's vision of femdom was not for everyone. More on that next time.

[1] No, not even in the OWK tears are legal tender. That would be too easy. [and scare away the customers.]
[2] Not that entrance to Domina Disneyland came cheap.
[3] As it turns out Eris Martinet also visited the OWK to film. It was after Goddess Amazon posted her video about how she says the OWK is a scam. Time to actually read Mrs. Martinet's article on kintsugi. Who knows what I'll discover.
[4] Why am I suddenly thinking about Kirstie Allsopp? Besides the fact that I like her?
