Unknowingly the main image is non-conventional, at least according to the BDSM police. (image: The New York Times) |
All kinky, part of the time - and nobody will ever find out. Wouldn't it be great to live my life, kinky and all, out in the open? Bad idea for most of us. Too many lives have been destroyed once the "respectable ones" found out so I keep my mouth shut.
Left-leaning and liberal, or perhaps circulation numbers, is the reason the New York Times features stories at regular intervals about BDSM. One of my all-time favourites is the article about a female submissive and her male dom falling in love. And no, it's not because I'm a sucker for love.
In 2016 the New York Times wrote a beautiful article about a couple with kink as their muse. Three years earlier Mollena Williams received an OKCupid message. One specific line said: "I would like to tame you." Defintely the wrong choice of words for me but composer Georg Friedrich Haas hit a note with his future wife.
Both of them chased their interest in BDSM all their lives, but dealt with it it differently. Mr Haas had to overcome three divorces. In striking contrast, Mrs. Williams-Haas was always open about who she is. Recognized as a writer and sex educator, in 2010 she was awarded the title of International Ms Leather 2010. She ends up educating [and perhaps setting him free too] the man she loves, who is also her husband and master.
The New York Times definitely excels in this particular profile. It's like a super smart Martian explaining the joy and excitement humans feel when Spring finally arrives to their fellow aliens [our point of view]. Of course the author, Mr. Woods, misses a beat here and there, but after having read the article, everyone on the red planet feels a bit jealous.
Mollena Williams-Haas blog speaks for itself. That same outspokenness forced her husband - they got married in 2015 - to be more open about his kink. I'm ambivalent about that. Being shoved into the limelight is not my thing, but I will if I have too. Until that emergency occurs, leave me out of it. It's like Tammy Wynette's invisible twin brother secretly singing "[when the shit hits the fan,] stand by your kinky girl." For some reason it never was a hit. The New York Times article is, read it!

PS
When you're done, why not have a look at Mollena's blog? As a wedding gift to all visitors, she wrote a book about Herr Meister's comment's. So cool! Just as great is one of the header images, consisting of three childhood pictures of the author. Ihrer Herr clearly has his work cut out for him.
