We should be able to do the job we love. |
Changing careers can be challenging, especially if you used to be a dominatrix. Today I ran into a story on one of the boards about Domina Nyx. Six days before graduating from police academy she was suspended after her bosses found out she used to work as a professional dominatrix and shooting a number of BDSM movies.
The sheriff's office claims her former job as a pro-domme disgraces the police organization. A judge later reinstated her and let her graduate from the academy. A hearing will follow to determine her future as a police officer.
Several articles stress the fact that she broke no laws and the Hudson County prosecutor's office declined to pursue any criminal charges against Ms. Nyx. The former dominatrix defended herself by comparing her job to WWE wrestling. It was something she only did in order to pay the bills. There are several clips of her out there and they are pretty violent, the very opposite of what she claims to be "cheesy".
Personally I don't see how your former job as a pro-domme disgraces the police. In my opinion as long as it is consensual, there's nothing wrong with it. The real risk lies in her future job as a police-officer. In the past she has bragged about being a [consensual] sadist. Odds are that when she has to use force apprehending a suspect, sooner or later a lawsuit inevitably follows, claiming she used excessive force because she enjoys it.
Whether or not she is reinstated as a police-officer, she will continue to pay a price for her past, unfair and something she doesn't deserve.
Update
On February 08, 2018, Mrs. Hyman was fired following a hearing. Femdom Resource has more about it. I don't think it's fair and am sorry for Mrs. Hyman.
